The man was detained in the Beersbridge Road area of the city on suspicion of riot on Wednesday morning.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "He is currently helping police with their inquiries."

Trouble broke out as an Orange Order parade marched past the Short Strand to mark the Twelfth.

According to police, the parade was attacked with missiles from the nationalist area, while more missiles were also thrown into that area.

Seventy-one police officers - 68 PSNI and three mutual aid - have been injured in parades or protest-related violence since 12 July.

It doesn't actually report that the rioting began from Short Strand, it does report "the parade was attacked with missiles from the nationalist area, while more missiles were also thrown into that area." It is reporting that both sides threw missiles, it does not report which side threw first which isn't really the point now is it. Throwing missiles & rioting completely different things. This man was arrested for riotous behaviour.

I have to laugh at you loyalist commentors on here when will people from the short strand be arrested. Well when will people from east Belfast be arrested for throwing petrol bombs and causing hassle to the people of the short strand. You harp on about one sided policing so lets see its ok for the OO and its supporters to attack police with swords, bottles bricks and fireworks and thats one sided policing. Basic principals of law if you break the law you face justice. I just dont like loyalists always trying to deflect your bad behaviour and not accepting that the actions of loyalists and the OO over the past year has been completely unacceptable.

So the police admit the Nationalists start the trouble, but are rounding up the Protestants!! Where is the Justice? Where is the Equality?
