Disorder broke out in the area after an Orange Order parade past the Ardoyne shop fronts on Thursday, 12 July.

A number of shots were fired from Brompton Park just after midnight the next day.

Chief Constable Matt Baggott said the violence was used as a cover for the attempted murder of police officers.

The 57-year-old was arrested in Ardoyne on Monday morning and taken to Antrim Serious Crime suite for questioning.
