A man has been arrested in connection with the car bomb attack at Strand Road police station in Londonderry.

The 42 year-old was detained in the Derry area on Saturday morning, police said.

A 200lb bomb exploded outside the station during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Extensive damage was caused when the proxy device, which was planted in the boot of a taxi which had been hijacked at gunpoint, exploded and ripped through a number of nearby shops.

A dissident republican organisation calling itself Óglaigh na hÉireann said it was behind the attack.

Free Derry does not want and nor does she care for these 'free'dom fighters. Excuse the clever pun.

This doesn't surprise me. Still no response to this outrageous act of terrorism from the 'good' people of Londonderry!
