Man arrested in Newry dissident probe

A 29-year-old man has been arrested during searches in Newry by police investigating dissident republican activity.

The man has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
A number of items were also taken away for examination following the searches in Derrybeg and Main Avenue areas of the city on Thursday morning.
Newry and Mourne Area Commander, Chief Inspector Davy Beck said: "I would like to thank the community for their support during these searches.
"You have asked us to tackle criminality in the local area and we will continue to do this to make Newry and Mourne a safer place to live."
