Two men broke into the Croft Avenue property at about midday on Wednesday.
The man, aged 56, was punched in the face after being confronted in the hallway of his home by the thieves - they then bound his hands together with cable ties.
A 17-year-old girl, who was in another room of the house at the time, was also tied up.
The thieves demanded money but are believed to have left the scene empty handed after ransacking the property, before fleeing down an alley in the direction of Croft Grove.
They are believed to be aged in their 40s. One was said to have been wearing a checked shirt, the other was described as having a receding hairline.
Anyone with further information has been asked to contact the PSNI.
