The child was airlifted to the Causeway Hospital on Sunday.

The search was triggered after Belfast Coastguard were alerted that a child had gone missing near cliffs close to the Silvercliffs Caravan Park in the seaside town.

Two helicopters were involved in the rescue operation - a police helicopter and the rescue helicopter from RAF Prestwick.

The Ballycastle and Coleraine Coastguard Rescue Teams and the Portrush and Red Bay RNLI lifeboats also took part.

"The child was found at the base of the cliffs and has been taken by the RAF helicopter to Coleraine Hospital," Belfast Coastguard said on Sunday night.
