Up to thirty firefighters are dealing with a major blaze at vehicle scrapyard in Co Down.

Thousands of tyres have been destroyed in the fire on the Newry Road, near Mayobridge.

It broke out on Sunday evening - the operation to bring it under control has continued through the night.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

A statement from the PSNI said: "Police and NI Fire and Rescue Service continue to attend a report of a fire at business premises this morning.

"At this stage, it is unclear as to the cause of the fire."

Officers have asked anyone with information to pass it on.
