Letter bomb discovered in post box

A letter bomb has been discovered in a post box in Clough, Co Down.

Police were called out after a man was seen acting suspiciously at the mailbox in the Dundrum Road area of the town at around 9pm on Thursday evening.
The area was sealed off and army bomb squad officers made the device safe.
A statement said: "Examinations were carried out on a suspicious object found inside the post box which was later described as being a viable device capable of causing death or serious injury. The device was made safe and taken away for forensic examination."
Police have asked anyone who saw the device being posted to contact them.
