A man has been charged after police found £37,000 worth of cannabis in Larne.

Seventy-four plants were seized at houses in the Kent Avenue and Gardenmore Place areas of the Co Antrim town on Friday.

A 31-year-old man was detained and a car was seized.

The man was later charged with cultivation of cannabis, possession of class B controlled drug with intent to supply, criminal damage and preventing meter from registering electricity supplied.

He is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates' Court on Monday.

"Police are asking landlords in the Larne and Ballymena areas to check their properties for any suspicious activity," a PSNI statement said.
