Lagan drowning victim identified

Man dies after Lagan rescue
The man who died after being pulled from the River Lagan in Belfast has been identified, but police are not releasing his name at this stage.

The man, who was in his 50s and from east Belfast, was rescued by the Fire and Rescue Service, but later died in hospital.

The alarm had been raised by a member of the public who spotted the man in the water close to the Queens Bridge at around 1am on Wednesday morning.

Police have said they are not treating the death as suspicious.
