Around 50 commuters were left stranded after a Belfast to Londonderry train broke down on early on Wednesday morning.
They were stuck in carriages for more than two hours when the mechanical failure occurred near Ballymoney.
The engine breakdown also caused the onboard heating system to close down, leaving passengers to brave cold temperatures during their wait.
They were eventually taken off the train by ladders and transferred to a replacement bus service.
A Translink spokeswoman said: "The 6.50am service from Belfast to Derry was delayed this morning due to mechanical difficulties.
"We apologise to passengers for the inconvenience caused."
