The attack happened on Monday night in the Downpatrick Road area of the Co Down village.
Three men broke in at around 9.10pm - one of them held the lady down while the others ransacked her bedroom.
They made off after she screamed for help.
The woman was left badly shaken but not hurt.
Police said it is not yet known if the anything was taken by the thieves during the incident.
The men are described as being six foot tall, of medium build and wearing dark clothing, woolen hats and dark coloured scarves over their faces.
Anyone with information has been asked to come forward.
