IMC report into murder of Bobby Moffett

The Independent Monitoring Commission is to produce a report into the murder of loyalist Bobby Moffett.

He was gunned down in front of shoppers on the Shankill Road on 28 May.

His family blamed the UVF for his murder, claiming he had been shot because he had challenged the leadership of the group in the Shankill area.

On Monday, the IMC said they had produced an 'ad hoc' report into the killing.

The report will be released before their next full report into paramilitary activity in Northern Ireland, which is due in late October.

SDLP justice spokesperson Alban Maginness welcomed the report, saying that "a full disclosure in relation to this murder" is needed.

"Up until now, there has been only speculation and strong suspicion but we can now expect a detailed and comprehensive report," the north Belfast MLA said.

"That's to be welcomed.

"Obviously, this report will help inform MLAs on the justice committee and the public at large on the details of Mr Moffett's death.

"This is a good and welcome development."

Oh gee, I wonder what the report will find. Hoodrat has dispute with gangsters, hoodrat challenges them to a bare-knuckle street fight, gangsters blow hoodrat's face off. the realist; just because the ira have according to you disbanded ( yet the presence of leading ira men at ardoyne tells us different ) does not mean they have their slate wiped clean , i live in a loyalist area and have seen no drug dealing which you are on about , why dont you go to the psni with this evidence you have or are you just talking your usual nonsense then ? as for murdering fellow protestants , robert mccartney ? paul quinn ? @Heather and Big Ernest, Yes the IRA did brutal things in the past but they've stopped and disbanded unlike the "Loyal" UDA and UVF both of whom are still active in swamping this place with Cocaine,Cannabis and heroin and yep still murdering fellow protestants..Loyalists even have a drug named after them called "Loyalist Blues".

trevor; an englishman you say ? you sure your not a closet republican as you have said the same comment regarding mark harbinson , so only loyalists are what you say ? republicans are too and their are a few stories about republican murder gangs in the news over the past few days but surprisngly you have failed to comment , tut tut , yes loyalism is not great but neither is republicanism , they are on a par with each other , never forget this trevor as you come across as someone who thinks one is holier than the other when it is far from it !!
