Two men claiming to be from a housing company attempted to rob the home of two pensioners in the Hillsborough area
A pair of men claiming to be from a housing organisation attempted to rob the home of two pensioners in Hillsborough on Tuesday.

The thieves approached the Grove Road home of two women in their 80s at around 2pm.

Claiming to be from the 'Northern Housing Fund', the first man called at the address and began asking the homeowner a series of questions about door locks.

After she brought him in, another resident at the property found a second man searching through a bedroom.

When she raised the alarm the man covered his face and ran. The first man also fled the scene.

Full descriptions of the pair have been given. The first man was around 5'6, of slight build with brown hair and a short gray beard. He was wearing a dressy suit and spoke with a northern English accent.

The second man was around six foot tall, of average build and wore a navy hat, navy top and navy jeans.

Police have appealed for information from anyone who saw the thieves in the area on Tuesday.
