The pair went into the property at Ballyvester Road on Monday morning under the guise that they were working on telegraph poles in the area.

One man distracted the resident - a man in his 60s - while the second stole items from a bedroom.

The incident happened at around 11am and anyone who saw suspicious activity or who has any further information has been asked to contact the PSNI in Co Down.

Lowlifes! Scum of the earth! This is alarming to anyone especially elderly people. The answer is do NOT let anyone into your home until you check their identity and if necessary contact their employer to verify who they say they are! Always be on the alert!
