The bomb scare was sparked by the discovery of a suspicious object in the Alexander Avenue area.

Army experts attended the scene on Friday morning.

But a PSNI spokesman has since confirmed that "nothing untoward" had been found.

The alert has now ended and the area, which had been sealed off for a time, has been reopened.
