Liam McCavanagh, 19, and Hannah Kerrigan, 24, are also jointly charged with possessing a Stanley knife at the Meadowbank Care Home on Trench Road.

McCavanagh is further charged with assaulting two police officers and Kerrigan is additionally charged with possessing a knife and assaulting one police officer.

All the offences are alleged to have occurred on 24 August last year.

Solicitors for both defendants told a preliminary inquiry hearing at the Magistrate's Court on Thursday that there was a prima facie case to answer.

Kerrigan was released on bail and McCavanagh was returned into custody until they are both arraigned before the Crown Court on 21 February.
