Thieves have escaped with a substantial quantity of cigarettes after hijacking a delivery lorry.
At 10.30am a black coloured, five door, Volkswagen Golf drove at high speed to block the path of a delivery vehicle at Haywood Avenue in Belfast.
Four men got out of the vehicle and ordered the driver to stay in his seat.
They then took a large quantity of cigarettes from the van and put them in the car.
Before making their escape the gang made a threatening gesture to a female passer-by who tried to intervene.
The gang's car then reversed in the direction of the Ormeau Road before driving away from the scene and towards the city centre.
Police said no one was injured in the robbery.
Meanwhile, detectives are also appealing for information after a theft of cigarettes by two men in dark coloured clothing from a petrol station on Milltown Road, Castlereagh, at around 4.20am.
The men made-off in the direction of the Belvoir estate.
