Funeral arrangements for Alex Higgins
Details have been released of the arrangements for Alex Higgins' funeral.

The cortege will leave the family home in the Roden Street area of south Belfast at around 9.15am on Monday.

The procession will then go along Donegall Road, Sandy Row and Abbington Street, where Higgins was born.

The cortege will then move along Hope Street, Great Victoria Street, Fisherwick Place, Wellington Place, Donegall Place, Royal Avenue and then finally to St Anne's Cathedral at Lower Donegall Street, where the funeral service will take place.

Thousands of people are expected to want to pay their respects to the snooker legend, whose body was found at his flat in south Belfast last weekend.

Just a little thought today and thinking about the good days for Alex Higgins so sad to hear of his passing. He certainly left us great Snooker playing memories and long may they last! R.I.P.

A social comment:. It's a pity that he died alone and his body was left for a few days, and now there is a huge national outpouring of grief. Is this a massive guilt trip? or simply a way to pin our names onto a celebrity memorial?

Will UTV cover the funeral live? They did it for Best and Higgins is as big of a hero as George in N. Ireland.
