Bands of heavy, blustery showers are expected later on Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to the Met Office.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann has a gale force winds warning in place for Tuesday night.

The coast is expected to hit from by high easterly winds of force 6 or higher overnight from Fair Head in Co Antrim, to Roches Point in Co Cork to Erris Head in Co Mayo.

The strongest winds are due in coastal areas of the south and southeast where localised flooding is predicted.

A small craft warning is in place.
