Guns found in dissident search

A man is being questioned after suspected guns were seized in Co Down during a police operation into dissident republican activity.

The 52-year-old was arrested after police searched a BMW car near Hillsborough on the main Belfast-Dublin road.

Police have confirmed that two suspected guns and ammunition were found at the scene.

The car is believed to have been under surveillance before the man was detained.

A number of properties in west Belfast have also been searched in connection with the probe.
