She sustained head injuries and had to undergo surgery following the collision on the Mullaghmeash Road between Dungiven and Claudy on Sunday at around 2.55pm.

The road is closed at its junction with the Glenshane Road and the Ballyhanedin Road.

A PSNI spokesperson said diversions are in place and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes where possible.

Police appealed for anyone who was travelling along the Mullaghmeash Road at the time and who witnessed the accident to contact them in Limavady.
