A teenage girl, who is believed to have been a victim of human trafficking, has been rescued during a police operation in the Greater Belfast area.

She is currently receiving support from specialist agencies.

Two men were arrested during the operation which focussed on drugs cultivation, money laundering and identity card offenses.

The operation has been running in Greater Belfast, north Down and Downpatrick since last September.

It has resulted in the seizure of cannabis with an estimated street value of £2.2m.

The two men, aged 33 and 35, were arrested after the search of a house in Greater Belfast.

Meanwhile, police from the Crime Team in Ballymena seized suspected illegal drugs with an estimated street value of £120,000 on Friday.

Following a search of a house in the Ballymena area, police seized suspected ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of £50,000 and suspected herbal cannabis with an estimated value of £70,000.

There were no arrests. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing, police said.
