The funeral of a 15-year-old girl who took her own life after her sister's suicide has been held in Co Donegal.

Shannon Gallagher was found dead at about midnight on Wednesday, at a property in the Castlefin area, several miles from her home.

She was laid to rest at St Mary's in Stranorlar on Saturday - the same church as her 13-year-old sister Erin, who was found dead at the family home in Ballybofey two months ago.

Donegal Daily reporter Stephen Maguire said: "The last time the funeral took place Shannon was the chief mourner alongside her mother Lorraine, but unfortunately Lorraine is on her own today and burying her second child in the space of weeks."

After the funeral mass Shannon was buried at Castlefin Cemetery.
