The internet is buzzing with a quirky video produced by Friends School in Lisburn which shows it is possible to have fun at school.

The video was posted onto YouTube in the early hours of Friday, with more than 60,000 hits already recorded on the video sharing website.

It is understood that Friends School Lisburn is the first school in the UK to attempt this type of video and pupils hope to see it reach over a million hits.

The video starts with a young pupil being dropped off at the school gates and the scary walk into the main building.

A must watch on YouTube - FSL LipDub. My old school.

Behind the doors the music and fun starts as the camera weaves through the maze of corridors as hundreds of pupils get into the swing of things by singing, dancing and acting out the variety of activities on offer at the school.

Orla Draine, a fifth form pupil studying for her GCSEs who features alongside all her schoolmates in the video, said the energy in the school was amazing when it was being made.

"There is a really good atmosphere at the school. There is a brilliant sense of community and the interaction between the pupils and teachers is great."

"Before Christmas when we were all told of the plan, there was amazing excitement about it."

"We had practise sessions and it was brilliant to see everyone get into it. All the teachers were singing and dancing alongside the pupils."

"There is a tremendous pride in the school and hopefully the video will be a huge success on YouTube," she said.

An amazing scene in an assembly hall shows the school's choir singing in a slightly subdued fashion, but it is not for long as the room explodes with energy.

The camera goes outside to the playing fields where the pupils form the school initials, FSL, whilst continuing to dance.

At the start, the pupils sing the Friends sitcom theme tune 'I'll be there for you'.

Twitter was alive with references to it at the weekend.

Chris Lyttle, the Alliance Party MLA for East Belfast, offered his congratulations for an "amazingly creative and professional film".

Hundreds of comments have also been left on the YouTube page - all supportive - with some notable comments coming from people with no connection to the school.

Simply a brilliant idea and very well executed - the energy from the pupils was awesome...the sedate choir scene followed swiftly by the disco...wonderful...and was that modern linedancing they were doing before spelling out FLS..lol! Well done to every single participant...I want to go back to school!
