A man recently back from the US has been confirmed as the latest swine flu victim in Northern Ireland.

The patient has been given anti-virals and is at home and recovering well.

All his close contacts are also being treated.

Health Minister Michael McGimpsey said: "It is not surprising that we have seen a further case of swine flu and I would urge people not to be alarmed. This was to be expected. I am pleased to hear that the individual is recovering well at home."

"We will continue to be vigilant to ensure that we are well placed to deal with any emerging situation."

Meanwhile, the Health Protection Agency says 19 further cases were confirmed in England on Saturday, along with 35 in Scotland, plus one in Northern Ireland, taking the total to 541.

It also emerged that a woman critically ill with swine flu gave birth to a premature baby in Renfrewshire.
