The 35-year-old man, who is a witness in a court case, challenged a gang who forced their way into a house in the Moor Road area of Coalisland at around 8pm on Tuesday.

They threatened him, before making off on foot when challenged by the man, whose wife and children were at home at the time of the attack.

Four men aged 29, 31, 42 and 45 are due to appear in court in Strabane on Thursday. The 29-year-old man has also been charged with breaching bail.

Anyone who saw a silver Volvo S70 taxi with an Eagle company sign on its roof between 6pm and midnight on Tuesday, in either Belfast or Coalisland, has been asked to contact police.
