Foreign nationals attacked in hate crime

Two women, both foreign nationals, have been attacked in Ballymena by a masked man armed with a knife and baseball bat.

The man came up behind the women, who were in the Larne Link Road area on Tuesday at around 2am.

One of the women, who is in her 60s, was hit over the head with the baseball bat several times and required hospital treatment for her injuries. The other woman, in her 40s, escaped unhurt.

The attacker is described as being 5ft 8in in height and was dressed in dark clothing.

Police are treating the incident as a hate crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact the PSNI.

Thers always one bonehead numbskull in every area. Hope the ladies make a full and speedy recovery, and the idiot is locked up for a long time.
