Waves spilled over the wall at high tide and caused the area to be closed to traffic.
Gary Arrell, who sent his dramatic footage to UTV, said: "The sea was crashing over the wall and spray was higher than the houses opposite."
The road was later reopened.
Meanwhile in Co Antrim, the Glenariffe Road in Ballymena is now closed due to flooding.
A yellow warning has been valid throughout Friday morning and into the afternoon.
It looks like eastern parts will be worst affected, particularly along the coast where high tides and winds gusting 40-50mph could cause spray and over-topping of waves.
An estimated 20-30mm of rainfall is expected to accumulate in places, as a band of heavy rain sweeps much of the UK.
The Roads Service has urged motorists and pedestrians to take care, especially when on coastal roads and paths.
