Thirty five passengers and four crew were on board the Flybe jet which encountered difficulties as it left Glasgow Airport on Thursday evening.
A statement from the carrier said emergency vehicles were put on standby for the plane's return, but all passengers were able to disembark safely.
It said: "Flybe can confirm that the above flight with 35 passengers and four crew on board experienced a small technical fault in the cockpit shortly after take off and as a precautionary measure elected to return to Glasgow.
"As is the case in such circumstances, the airport elected to put emergency vehicles on standby. On return to stand, all passengers disembarked as normal and are being re-accommodated on the next available flight."
