The group gathered amid a heavy police presence on Saturday afternoon.
Some of the crowds marched in from the east of the city.
Police, some in full riot gear, ensured that the protest did not spill onto the road at Donegall Place.
It comes after Belfast City Council voted earlier this month to only fly the Union flag from City Hall on designated days.
