Four men and a woman have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in west Belfast.

The incident occurred at a shop in the Beechmount Avenue area on Wednesday at around 9.40am.

A sum of money was taken in the robbery.

Less than an hour later a red Volkswagen Bora was stopped in the Springfield Park area. The occupants were arrested and a sum of money was recovered.

A man, 25, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

A woman aged 19 and three men aged 30, 26 and 18 were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They are all currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Anyone with information about this incident or who seen the red Volkswagen Bora in the areas is asked to contact CID in Grosvenor Road.
