Flooding in Co Fermanagh
Stormont ministers have announced plans to set-up a special Task Force over the flooding in Co Fermanagh.

The decision came at Thursday's meeting of the Executive where political leaders expressed their condolences for all those affected by the floods which were caused by more than a month of constant rainfall.

First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness have visited flood victims, while ministers Michelle Gildernew and Arlene Foster represent the affected area.

It is understood the impact of the floods was extensively discussed at Thursday's two-hour meeting.

A spokesman for the Executive later said: "The Executive is to set-up a Task Force in response to the widespread flooding in Co Fermanagh.

"The cross-departmental group headed by the Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister will investigate the factors that contributed to the flooding and consider how departments could assist in dealing with the aftermath.

"The Task Force will examine lessons learned, longer-term planning and preparations for possible future measures to minimise the impact of flooding."

They said the move to establish the Task Force was a unanimous decision.
