An investigation is underway after an 19-year-old man died in a road crash involving a police vehicle in north Antrim.
David Thomas James McKee from Coleraine was killed in the crash on the Ballybogey Road between Ballymoney and Portrush at around 4am on Thursday.
He was the passenger of the Renault Clio at the time of the accident.
A 29-year-old man who was driving the car has been taken to hospital but his condition is not thought to be life threatening.
The Police Ombudsman's office was notified and the area was closed-off while officers and forensics teams examined the scene.
Detectives haven't yet confirmed if the police car had been pursuing the vehicle when the crash happened.
But they said that the Renault Clio had not been stolen.
SDLP East Derry MLA John Dallat extended his sympathies to the motorist who died.
"All road deaths are tragic and regrettable but one in the run-up to Christmas is particularly heart-breaking," he said.
"My sincerest sympathies go out to all those involved and I wish to extended my condolences to the friends of family of the unfortunate man who lost his life.
"I would appeal to all motorists to take the utmost care on the roads this festive season."
Police said they are keen to speak to a lorry driver who was on that stretch of road at the time of the accident.
