A gas leak which led to a number of evacuations in south Belfast has been dealt with.

Fire crews erected a 50m exclusion zone in Ardmore Avenue off the Ormeau Road as a precautionary measure on Thursday morning.

A gas leak was confirmed and a Calor Gas engineer was called in.

The incident was dealt with by around 12.30pm and families have been allowed to return to their homes, with no reports of any injuries.

The area has been reopened to traffic.
