A Dublin-born woman has been killed in a bear attack in Canada.

Lorna Weafer, 36, had been working as an engineer for Suncor on an oilfield when the horrific incident occurred.

She was coming out of a portable washroom when the black bear attacked her.

The bear was later tracked down and killed by officials.

Lorna emigrated with her family from Dublin to Canada when she was four years old.

A family member has told the Irish Independent she was very outgoing with a dry wit.

Her family are said to be completely numb following the incident and her cousin, Dublin actor Alan O'Neill, who stars in 'Sons of Anarchy' has tweeted his heartbreak at the news.
