Police investigating the sudden death of a man during a party in Dunmurry say yellow ecstasy type tablets should be disposed of "immediately and safely".

The man in his 40s died at a property in the Thornhill Court area on Friday evening.

Police say emergency services were called at around 7.40pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other men have been taken to hospital in Belfast for treatment after falling ill.

"They are described as being in a stable condition at present", a PSNI spokesman said.

Detectives are investigating reports that yellow ecstasy pills known as "speckled Rolex" may have been taken by the men during the house party.

Police have urged anyone in possession of the pills not to take them.

"Police would advise anyone in possession of tablets like these or any other illegal substances to dispose of them immediately and safely," the spokesman said on Friday night.

Local Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann said: "This is a terrible tragedy in which one person has lost their life while celebrating over the Christmas period.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this man and I hope the other people make a full recovery."

Reacting on Twitter, local community worker Michael George said: "Anyone in possession of yellow "speckled" ecstasy (should) contact community reps/PSNI now".

Police have appealed for anyone with information in relation to the circumstances surrounding the death to contact them in Lisburn.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Investigations are ongoing.
