Drugs accused banned from going near home
A Belfast woman accused over an alleged attempt to import herbal cannabis has been banned from going within three miles of her home address.

The prohibition was imposed as part of conditions under which 35-year-old Charlene Whelan was released on bail on Tuesday.

Whelan, of Estoril Park, Belfast, appeared before the city's Magistrates Court charged with possession of Class B drugs and possession with intent to supply.

She is also accused of being knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion or attempt to evade a ban on cannabis importation.

A detective constable told the court he could connect her with each of the alleged offences.

Although bail was not opposed, police asked for Whelan to live at Hollybrook Court in Glengormley and surrender her passport.

A district judge granted the request, and also directed that the accused should not be within a three-mile radius of Estoril Park.

She was told to report to police three times a week and instructed to provide a 2,000 cash surety before she could be released.

Whelan was remanded on bail to appear again later this month.
