Police chiefs in the fresh investigation into the 27-year-old's death will test around 200 people in the search to find her killer.

Earlier this month Avinash Treebhoowoon and Sandip Moneea, who both worked at the Legends resort, were found not guilty of murdering Mrs McAreavey following an eight week trial at the island's capital, Port Louis.

The only daughter of Tyrone GAA boss Mickey Harte was found dead in the bath of the honeymoon suite by her new husband, John, in January last year.

During the first inquiry into how she died, samples were taken from six people - including the newlyweds.

The Mauritian police force was heavily criticised for their handling of the investigation and the new inquiry is being conducted by a fresh team of senior officers.

Northern Ireland's Attorney General, John Larkin is to examine legal papers from the murder trial.
