The blaze broke out on the mountainside at Ballagh Bridge, Ballagh Road, in Newcastle on Sunday.

A statement from the NI Fire and Rescue Service said it involved around four hectares of wildland and the flames were being fanned by high winds.

Eight appliances and 45 firefighters were at the scene. The fire was brought under control at 6pm.
