Cookstown alert declared 'hoax'

A suspicious object examined at a security alert in Cookstown, Co Tyrone has been declared an "elaborate hoax".

The security alert ended after army technical officers carried out a controlled explosion on the object.

The Lower Kildress Road and part of Drum Manor and the Upper Kildress Road at its junction with the Mackenny Road were closed for a time on Tuesday.

PSNI have appealed for anyone with information on the incident to contact them.
