The Garnerville Grove property was searched on Wednesday and cultivating equipment and other drugs paraphernalia also found.

A 47-year-old man arrested at the scene is helping police with their inquiries.

Commenting on the discovery Area Commander for East Belfast Chief Inspector Mark McEwan said:

"We remain totally committed to tackling the scourge of illegal drugs and we are working to disrupt the activities of those involved in their sale and supply, limit the amount of misery they are able to inflict on communities and ultimately by putting them behind bars.

"We will continue to address the issues of illegal drug use and supply with the support of the local community. I would like to thank all of the people who have worked with us to help us take drugs off the street and would ask the community to continue to bring us information so that we can take action."

Are you David Cameron?got you? You seem to be as in touch with current events as him as sentencing guidelines have just been reduced and as LoveUnity wrote we should tax and regulate that would stop the dealers who dont care what age kids are and the ones who want to push them on to other drugs and it would alleviate this country's debt problem. What's the harm? cannabis is the most safe and effective natural medicine which has been used by mankind for 5000 years util the last century when big alcohol, pharma and paper interests had it vilified and demonised see Clear for the truth.

Illegal drugs are not a scourge. Exactly the same problems arose when the mobsters were given the entire U.S. alcohol market to exploit. It is the people who sell currently illegal drugs who are the problem. Unfortunately the government see fit to simply give them the entire market as a free gift. Cannabis in particular needs to be taken back under legal control and a regulated supply chain established so that consenting adults may purchase it without the criminal fraternity being involved at all. And the tax raised would give an enormous boost to all sectors of the economy.
