Church attack man released on bail

A man arrested over criminal damage caused to a church in Kilkeel, Co Down has been released on police bail.

Fourteen Stations of the Cross, three statues as well as pews and stained glass windows were damaged inside Our Lady of the Angels Oratory on Greencastle Street.

The attack was carried out sometime between 11pm on Wednesday and just before 9am on Thursday.

Parish priest Fr Michael Murray's car was also attacked.

Police have ruled out a sectarian motive.

The man was arrested on Thursday night and has since been released.
