A Chinese man was remanded in custody on Saturday after police uncovered 330 cannabis plants in south Belfast last month.
Appearing in the dock of Belfast Magistrates Court dressed in jeans and a leather jacket, 33-year-old Wenbo Cai spoke through an interpreter to confirm that he understood the charges against him.
Mr Cai, from Coatbridge House, Carnoustie Drive in London, faces charges that he cultivated cannabis, possessed cannabis with intent to supply and was concerned in the supply of cannabis on June 8th at an address at The Cloisters in the university area of Belfast.
He is further charged that on April 22nd he was concerned in the production of cannabis.
A Detective Constable told the court he believed he could connect him to the charges.
He confirmed to Mr Cai's solicitor that further forensic testing was being conducted on the evidence which connects him to the allegations from April.
No bail application was made and Mr Cai was remanded in custody to appear again on August 6th.
It is understood that a 37yr-old-man and a 39yr-old-woman who were also arrested in relation to immigration offences are assisting the UK Borders Agency.
