Charges over war memorial damage

Two men, aged 20 and 42, have been charged with criminal damage and disorderly behaviour after a war memorial was damaged in Newry, Co Down.

Two men were arrested after CCTV operators observed wreaths and crosses from the cenotaph at Bank Parade being thrown into a river at 12.20am on Sunday.The 42-year-old man is also charged with indecent behaviour.The pair are due to appear at Newry Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 4 June.
