Charges over critical city assault

Two men have been charged in relation to an assault in north Belfast at the weekend which left one young man critically ill and three others badly injured.

It happened on the Antrim Road on Sunday at 4.50am, close to a PSNI station.

The young man remained critical on Monday night.

Two men, 23 and 31, arrested by police in relation to the attacks have since been charged.

The younger man has been charged with attempted murder, common assault, possession of a Class B controlled drug, possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis.

The 31-year-old man has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of a Class B controlled drug, possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis.

They are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
