Charge over Scott Vineer murder attempt

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of teenager Scott Vineer in Lisburn.

The 17-year-old, who is autistic, was subjected to a brutal assault and was left for dead in the Laganbank Road area of the city in September 2012.Police investigating the attack charged an 18-year-old man with attempted murder on Wednesday afternoon, and said he is due before Lisburn Magistrates Court on 2 June.Scott was in hospital for six months following the vicious beating - during which he was repeatedly kicked in the head - and spent three of those months in a coma.He now uses a wheelchair due to the extensive injuries he received.Police are continuing to appeal for information about what happened and have asked anyone who may be able to help to contact them.
