A cat may lose its eye after it was shot with a pellet gun in an attack in Antrim.

Police have launched an appeal for help to find those behind the incident which happened on Wednesday, 9 July in the Beechfields area.

Sometime between 7pm and 11.45pm the cat, named Judy, was shot in the left eye by a pellet gun.

The pellet lodged in the cat's head and following surgery the pet is expected to survive but may lose its eye.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area or who has information in relation to the attack is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.

Grrrr this really angers me. People are horrible iam an animal lover mainly for the reason that animals love u more than themselves. its sick that ppl can do this what kind of ppl are they!!? If they do get caught nothing ever seems to happen maybe a fine WOW!! They probably wont pay it either sad world!!

the person who did this is evil, did they get pleasure seeing this cat suffer? somebody knows who did this and they should tell the police and get them arrested before they shoot some other defenceless animal and cause up set to the owners.

Maybe its time these scumbags get some sort of jail time maybe that will make them think twice before they go out and hurt an animal just for the fun of it
