It happened outside a business at Mallusk Road on Thursday at 10am.

The guard locked himself in the van as two men - one armed with a knife - approached him, attempting to steal a cash box.

However, they made off empty handed in a silver coloured car which was being driven by another man.

The security guard was not injured in the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the information to come forward.
