Paint was sprayed on 15 cars parked in the Beechdene Gardens area of the city on Friday night.
Windows of homes, also on Beechdene Gardens and in Pond Park Avenue, were also broken and paint sprayed on walls in the area.
One resident told UTV the graffiti was threatening an individual and claimed to be the work of loyalist paramilitaries.
She said: "They have basically gone for any car parked on the road and the slogans I saw said UVF and UDA in blue paint."
Police have said they are investigating a motive, however, they believe the incidents are connected and an investigation into the damage is underway.
Anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or who has information is asked to contact police in Lisburn.
